Why the Cleveland Indians Can’t Win

Um, wait…I just realized I DON’T HAVE ALL DAY.

In other horribly sad news: Dom DeLuise died.

“All hail Caesar, Emperor of Rome! Monarch of the Roman Empire! Ruler of the worrrrld…” HAAA. I have to tell you I own History of the World, Part I. I’m ashamed to admit it. It’s so ridiculously, um, Mel Brooks. Anyway, DeLuise’s portrayal of Julius Caesar in that film is one of my all-time faves.

I also remember how he used to crack Dean Martin up. And I always crack up myself when I see him doing his Marlon Brando impression in Robin Hood: Men in Tights.

His laugh killed me…he was someone who, when he laughed, you couldn’t resist laughing yourself. Check it out. He just seemed to enjoy life, enjoy his career. He looked like he loved everything.

Dangit. He was funny. Unlike the Indians…

We’re off! Fink out.

I, too, own History of the World Part I on DVD. I also own Blazing Saddles, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, and Young Frankenstein. I’d have to say my favorite Deluise line was “Wash this.” when he pulled out a live bird. By the way, I find the Indians to be hilarious!! (The Reds won last night 7-0 in their MLB leading 6th shutout of the year.)

I met Dom during the summer after I graduated and before I came to South Central. He was in Columbus, Ohio signing autographs. There was only a little kid and his mother ahead of me in line so Dom took his time, chatted with each person, delivering one-liners and keeping the little kid, his mother and me laughing. He was a really nice man and completely unaffected by his star-status.

How cool is this?!?! Stoney and I were just talking at lunch about his cooking show, and how down-to-earth and funny he was. His first book was called Eat This – You’ll Feel Better. How much more fun Italian can you get?

OK, FIRST of all…where was your post yesterday??? I needed a RF pick-me-up in a BIG way, and there was none. HOURS & HOURS trying to cry myself to sleep.

(I’m not Catholic, but how’s that for guilt?) **SMEWCH**

I thought of you yesterday when I was at the newly remodeled Apple Store at The Shops At Willow Bend – looking at all the nice shiny new MacBookPro’s and wondering which one you’re actually gonna get?!

And I, too, am a big Dom fan… he will be sorely missed!

Aw, I love you sweetness! I couldn’t get to Finkville yesterday, unfortunado. Too much other stuff going on. I am thrilled though, that you like it here — totally flattered, cuz I know you’re incredibly busy and smart and geeky. Everything I admire. :P

Wish I remembered what Mac Book I chose — I’m not going to ask my super for a copy of the description I picked out, for fear of him saying, “Meh…I don’t think we’re gonna get you that after all.” YIKES.

      Hugz!

Ahh- MacBook! Still tre cool! HOPEFULLY it’ll be the new/redesigned one with the aluminum unibody. And if not, I think the one you sent me a link to will do nicely!

I’m off to the “…always delicious, Taco Bell”!!

        (know the movie quote?)

I didn’t realize this until I checked out Dom’s IMDB page, but that guy did a lot of voice over work. But, I’ll always remember his as Pizza The Hutt in Spaceballs. “You’re gonna pay for it, or else Pizza is gonna send out for YOU.”

Dom reminds me of Cannonball Run (I’m pretty sure he was in that), a movie I remember chiefly because my mother was with us and she actually fell asleep.

As for the Indians, I’m a big fan of Grady. and hey, look what’s happening to CC in New York; guy can’t buy a good start, and you’d think that would be possible as a Yankee.

And let’s not forget what the Indians did to the Yankees in their new stadium: that was near-demolition. At the least, pure humiliation.

I think I am the only one in my family who fully appreciates all these goofball comedies. Michael doesn’t get half the jokes and my parents just don’t care for it. I tried watching Robin Hood: Men in Tights with Michael once. I had to keep pausing it to explain the jokes. It was not fun. Dom was a really funny guy.
