Whither art thou, sleep?

What is up with THIS? I think I have too much on my reptilian brain. Up with the night creatures at 3:30 a.m.

Don’t you hate that? What do you do to go back to sleep? I think I try too hard. When everything backfires, I just get up. I think I might be giving up too easily, although I actually woke up today at 2:58. I just spent the next half hour trying to reverse the process. Nice.

Truthfully, there are issues weighing on my mind. Don’t you wish you could turn them off at bedtime? If you can, I’d appreciate hearing how you do it (pharmaceuticals really aren’t an option for me…not that I have anything against sleepy drugs, mind…I just can’t wake up enough to go to school the next day).

This is going to be the Week of Taking Care of Stuff. You just wait and see if it ain’t.

*yawn* I think I’ll officially hoist the white flag and go make some coffee. Happy Saturday, fiends. (It is Saturday, right?)

Yeesssss I have the same problem now and then and yesssss it’s mostly when I have a few things on my mind. I do what you do. I know when I am not going to go back to sleep so I just get up. I think my blood pressure just skyrockets when I lay there trying to go back to sleep!! I hop onto Facebook (after checking your site of course!!) and get lost in the games I play (keeps me awake and takes my mind off of whatever it is that is troubling me). Facebook is free along with being non-fattening and alcohol free! The day is long when I get up early and at the end I am asleep in the chair at 8:00pm! BUT I do not go to bed until 10:30 or so, if I go earlier then I will definitely be awake again early. I stay in my chair and try to stay awake until then. H usually has to turn up the volume on the TV when I do that since I tend to snore a *little* ROFL

Also, exercise during the day really helps me to sleep. If I am not working and don’t get my arse in gear and try to get a half hour to an hour’s worth of some kind of exercise then I don’t sleep well. Do you guys walk Rousseau?? Might be something fun to do at the end of the day. I miss walking Sasha as that forced me to get out and walk.

Hope this makes sense — try and stay awake today and perhaps tonight you well get a good night’s rest! *hugzzz*

That’s exactly how I felt this morning. Thinking, thinking, brain, brain, think some more, try to drift off, try to block stuff from my mind…nothin’ doin’.

I hear you about falling asleep too early. Yesterday Kay and I went to Mansfield in the late afternoon, and when she pulled in my driveway to drop me off, it was pitch black outside — and only 6:40 p.m. I swear my tiredness so early has something to do with this stupid DST – it’s dark at dinnertime!

Exercise? What is this exercise of which you speak?? I know I need to get going. I gained 11 lbs. over the course of my last show (3.5 are now gone, saints be praised). Unbelievable. The Thriller usually walks Rousseau, but now he’s not even doing that because of his workload for classes. I need to take over that duty — at least until it’s snowing.

Thanks for the reply, friend — have a great weekend. (I know it bites about the downpour…I guess the tulips need a drink, eh?)

I normally tell myself a story to get back to sleep. It works like a charm for me. I’m not thinking about everything I have to do that way.

I was trying to go back to sleep but BV is snoring to beat the proverbial band. Maybe if I just put this pillow over his face… LOL

Throughout the years I’ve gone through periods of time when I woke up really early (like you in the 3:30ish range) and would roll and toss and not go back to sleep. Often, as with you, it was because my mind was on overload. Quit some time ago I started taking Melatonin. It’s a dietary supplement, not a drug. I’m sleeping much better, but don’t know for sure if it’s the Melatonin that’s doing it. But, it doesn’t cost much and there is no drowsy hangover effect the next morning. Hope you sleep really well tonight.
