When you’re an idiot…

…dumb things happen.

So, Mavis and I are in the test-kitchen phase of our new business, as many of you know. We got together last night to bake three different recipes in an effort to arrive at *just* the right taste for our Chocodoodle base. (We’re almost there.)

I have a small Sunbeam stand mixer — certainly not industrial grade, but strong enough to get the job done. And boy did I do a job on it — and it on me. Behold the result of my trying to scrape the bowl with a spatula, and getting the spatula — and my hand — caught in the beaters:

Natch, it was my right hand, too. The one I’m having x-rayed on the 7th after my little fall in the school parking lot three weeks ago. HA. Rat Fink, Rat Fink. What a donkey.

The upside? Our first major business purchase:

And I do mean *major*. Ouch. 200+ beans. If I get a paw caught in that bad boy, I won’t be talking to you for awhile. But it works like magic, and we’re glad to have it.

Me, I’m just glad to still have my hand. What a dope. The real downside is every muscle in my right arm feels like it’s been pulled out, swung around, stomped on, set on fire, and put back on sideways. Other than that, I feel great.

But hey, the Js are coming to visit Grammie today. Is that an upside or what? Yippy for me! And I’m on vacation. What’s to complain about? (You know me; I’ll find something.)

:-)

What in the world!!! I’m so hoping that you will have the use of all your digits and that the pain subsides!!!! Mixers are really very dangerous. I have a Kitchenaide and it will eat your head!!!!!! So don’t peek too closely into that bowl! Take care and squeeze the J’s.

Good thing I have short hair, Candy B! LOL

I will definitely have fun with the Js today. Merry Christmas to you and your fabulously talented family. I hope you’re all able to get together over the holiday.

That was quite the experience, watching your little digits swell up after the mixer incident! I bet you’re feeling like 10 miles of bad road this morning. We had fun, though! :-) I think one more trial recipe and we’re there. Next, we get ready for the inspection, then we can start rolling out the product to the public!!

Have fun with the J’s today! I’ll see you tomorrow night for the feast and opening of gifts!!! Love you, Bird. Stay away from all kitchen appliances today! :p~~~

Blah! That was ridiculous! I’m fine as long as I don’t try to make a fist — the paw isn’t closing too easily today. What a dork!

I’m making my homemade mac & cheese for B & K’s visit tonight…if you hear the ambulance sirens, you can assume I tried to take it out of the oven with my bare hands. HAAAA

      Love you sissy!

I will never forget baking cakes for the cub scout cake auction. It was a father/son project. We were using a wooden spoon….as it went thru the beaters it splintered all over….we recovered what we thought to be all of the parts but none the less warned the buyer of potential problems with their new purchase….we all laughed including them!

Ouch!! That hurts just thinking about it!! I recommend ice for the swelling and Stolichnaya for the pain LOL.

You will love, Love LOVE your Kitchenaide – I bought one back when they were $75 and it is a workhorse. Check out the different attachments too. However, I do reiterate Candy’s advice because it WILL eat your head and not even feel bad about it.

Congrats on the ‘birth’ of your new biz – Enjoy your grandbabies today!

    Huggers-

      Hahaha — or ice in the Stoli?? That’d be a double-whammy. :P

We are looking forward to messing with the new toy, even if Mavis has to tie my hands behind my back so I don’t lose one in the process!

You do not know how much I envy you right now for owning that magnificent piece of kitchen wizardry. Wait until you get to playing with some of the attachments that you can use with it and start doing fun things like making your own pasta etc. Sorry to hear your hand got hit again. My right hand seems to be the only one bad things ever happen as well.

Well Will, if I’d use my brain once in awhile, I’d have two working hands. I highly recommend the KitchenAid mixer — it’s magic!
