Up for air

Saturday was not fun. Mavis and I did some shopping yesterday, which was a real bright spot, but other than that, there was no joy. However, today is different. Oh wait…today is all work, too.

Nevermind.

I’m supposed to have company later this morning — maybe that will brighten my day. Ever have one of those mornings when even going back to bed doesn’t seem to be a viable option? I think it’s just that time of the year. It happens. Ah well…nothing that a café mocha won’t fix. Be right back.

And there we go. I was going to review The Rum Diary for you this morning, but decided against it — mostly because it left me not really caring. It was mildly entertaining (it’s Johnny, after all, luvs), but overlong. Depp gave too many Jack Sparrowish puzzled-and-grossed-out looks; the plot was fractious, the bad guys stereotyped…basically a disappointment. Blah.

But hey, there’s always The Godfather II. Turned on the set at 10:00 last night, and there it was on AMC. Nice way to end the evening!

And, in case you don’t frequent Facebook for my pithy updates: we’re almost there. :-)

I’m so sorry you’re feeling blue today!! :-( I did enjoy shopping with you, yesterday. You’re a wonderful” personal shopper!”

Things are going to get better, luv. Keep your heart pointed at the people that love you, and keep it open for others that will. YOU. ARE. AWESOME!!!! Turn that frown upside down! Don’t make me walk over there! (ok, maybe not)

    I love you!!!

Hey Muzzavis — the day got brighter as it went along! Got some visiting in, some work done…now I don’t feel so craptastic. And if you’re wandering away from the house on foot, at least meet me halfway! LOL I love you too!

I went and saw The Rum Diary with old George and felt similar about it. However the longer I go from having seen it my feeling about it improves a little. It may have been more disappointing if I had seen Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas but I have not.

Mad Men..HURRAY!!! I’ll be waiting till I can watch the whole season at once but I’ll look forward to getting your impression of it ahead of time.

    Good luck with de werk.

Can’t wait for MM!! I wonder if Netflix will make people wait all season, or whether they’ll release the episodes one at a time. I hope it’s the former.

And who knows…maybe after awhile, the Rum Diary won’t seem like such work to watch. I mean, it’s not that it didn’t hold my interest….I don’t quite know how to explain it. It was more like a variety show: here’s one scene, then here’s another vignette, and another situation, and so on…and the girl just dropped out of the picture — *poof* she was gone! Maybe I missed something. Just too jumpy-aroundy for this hag.

I miss old George, don’t you?

I think overall you are more right than wrong about The Rum Diary. Sometimes that kind of thing can add up to something but in this case mostly not. It may have just been better than other movies I saw around the time and maybe thats why I was thinking better of it.
