Two new things

I’ve tried one, but not the other. Yet.

A couple of weeks ago, Mavis and I were in Wally, doing some grocering. We were both thirsty and talking about getting a drink on the way out of the store when we happened upon a center-aisle display of something called Sparkling Ice, in tall, slim, attractive bottles (about the size of the old fashioned Pepsi bottles we used to buy) for a dollar each. Have you tried it? We each bought one and boy, were they tasty.

I ended up going back this past weekend and getting more — one in each flavor (except pomegranate…ick). For someone who hates plain water, this is great. Slightly sparkling, a small amount of sucralose, and jacked with some antioxidants. Fantastic. I say go get some if you’re up for a change of pace.

Last week, I ordered some stuff for a baby shower I’m attending soon. One of the sites where I placed an order was hawking a deal on a corn dog baker — that is, you can have your corn dog without deep frying it. I thought, “Hmm. Worth a try for that price,” so I bought it. It arrived Saturday and I am looking forward to trying it tonight.

Have you used one of these? If so, how did you like it? Amazon customer reviews seem pretty positive. Anyway, I bought some cornbread mix and a package of 98% fat free turkey dogs; we’ll see how the slightly-more-healthy version of this yummy county fair treat works out.

Aaaaaand it’s Monday. Cripes…

Hubby and I were soda hounds and wanted to break that habit so now we have become hooked on Mio – a little bottle of concentrated, zero-calorie flavoring. A drop or three in a glass of water makes it very enjoyable. We’ve tried the fruit punch, the orange and the iced tea flavor, but our favorite is strawberry-watermelon. I keep a bottle at the studio as well.

I’ll have to check that Sparkling Ice stuff out next time I’m at the store. Thanks for the tip!

I’ve had Mio too! Wasn’t thrilled with the fruit punch, but I need to try the other flavors. I like how you can make it as strong or mild as you want. The S-W sounds great!

It’s supposed to be sunny and 68 here today — amazing! Hope you can dodge the raindrops today.

My Raspberry Sparkling Ice was fantastic!! I’m so glad that we spotted those in the store. You and I have been “plain-water-haters” for a long time. SI is such a great substitute! Since there is no sodium content – it’s good for me. :-)

Had a marvelous time shopping with you, Bird-O-Mine. Can’t wait for the “feastivities” this weekend!

Mos def, Mavis! I will be in touch — menu request is ham, mac & cheese, yeast rolls, two salads and cake. We’ll come up with a veggie and be all set. What are you up to Sunday morning????

My managers keep on raving about the stuff. It’s almost worth going to Wally just to get the Lemon-Lime. I’m a major mark for anything lime.

I may try the sparkle water stuff. I have a weakness for taller fancier soda water.

I wonder if you could use the corndog machine for some other baking purposes…like some sort of dessert. Cake on a stick?

I think you’d like the Sparkling Ice — it’s tall, fancy AND tasty soda water. (Soda water…hahaha)

Actually, they have a recipe booklet that gives some ideas for desserts. I’m not thrilled about their Snickers idea (a Snickers bar wrapped in corn meal?? Kinda icky), but I could probably do a hundred things with cake batter in there! Great idea. Cripes, that’s all I need — another PROJECT! :P
