Stuff I should be doing

  1. Going through closets for clothing donations
  2. Cleaning bathrooms
  3. Emptying the oak desk in the parlor of various and sundry junk that should have been thrown out long ago
  4. Dusting
  5. Brushing the dogs
  6. Lesson plans and shopping for fall music
  7. Watching Game of Thrones and Penny Dreadful on DVR over coffee

But here it is, 8:30 a.m. and I’m still entertaining myself by reading about the Cavs, looking at videos and Vines and tweets, and basically trying to relive that moment on the couch last night, when I covered my eyes as Kyrie Irving took his own version of “The Shot,” basically sealing the deal in the final 10 seconds of the game. I stared in numb disbelief at the TV screen as the clock stopped and LeBron made that foul shot, and as time started again and two Warriors in a matter of two seconds missed 3-point attempts. Only this time, my numb disbelief wasn’t rooted in the tradition doomed to repeat itself year after year, when Cleveland teams either lose early on and never make the playoffs, or make the postseason only to either get swept or endure heartcrushing defeats like The Drive, The Fumble, The Catchand Red Right 88. This time, I watched in dazed amusement as an actual Cleveland sports team rushed the court, and as grown men fell to the floor, crying for joy.

The Comeback.

Surreal.

Only three times since the NBA Finals began back in 1947 has a team won Game 7 while not playing on their home court. The Celtics won Game 7 in LA in 1969, and again in Milwaukee in 1974; in 1978, Washington won the seventh game at Seattle. Three times — until now.

I’ll get to the list of tasks at some point today…or maybe not. I might just make more coffee and enjoy a bit more of the shock. I imagine there are a lot of Cleveland fans running on extra java this morning. That’s OK; they’ve — we’ve — earned it.

    Amen Sistah Fink!
I realized while watching the seconds tick away last night that in my brief, albeit memorable stint as a resident of your community I had become a lifelong fan of all things Cleveland sports! Cavs, Browns and Indians right there in my heart next to the hallowed Green & Gold.
What a tremdous, historic event last night! I thought of you and many other Ohio sport fans that had endured decades of championship hopes falter in the end…Not This Time Baby! The Comeback! One for the ages!
All that stuff on the list…they can wait…wallow in it for now!
    Peace my Friend!

Ahhh bask in that joy, I am pretty sure that not ONE of the Cavs team is cleaning a closet or doing lesson plans. They are also enjoying the feel of The Win.

I did exactly that yesterday! I know I wasn’t alone in the celebration. They’re having a huge parade in downtown Cleveland tomorrow — can’t wait to watch it. They expect enormous crowds!

I know plenty of Cavs fans but you were the first to come to mind last night when CNN pushed the headline across the top of the screen.

The second thing to come to mind was ‘Dammit! I meant to watch that game!’ The night before, I checked three times for the game time and was reminded each time that it wasn’t on Saturday night. Getting old over here.

Anyway congrats. The narrative of LeBron and Cleveland has an unlikely but almost mythical and perfect happy ending.

Thanks, Ross. It was a real nailbiter, all the way to the last 10 seconds or so. Sorry you missed it, but I’m sure your social media newsfeed has been inundated with video clips. Nice to have that curse lifted!

I stay awake for the entire game and the post game interviews. I was watching history in the making. I refer you to my FB post. We saw from LeBron’s reaction at the end of the game and in his post game comments, that he was extremely emotionally invested in fulfilling the promise he made upon his return to Cleveland–to bring a championship. The CAVS did so in a remarkable, agonizing, amazing way. Now, can you imagine the reaction when the CUBS win the World Series. When that happens don’t expect anything from me the next day!

Savor the victory! Bask in it! Buy and wear the T-shirt and the cap.

It was remarkable indeed! I’m still in a bit of a state of mild shock over it all.

And with the Cubs continuing to have the best record in baseball, I’ll bet you’re feeling that same nervous hope. A hundred eight years is long enough (unless they’re playing the Tribe, ;-) )

Bird! The HECK with cleaning or planning or anything! Fans of the Cavs *deserve* to take the day off. As you know, I’ve never been a basketball fan. I was PRAYING during that game that Cleveland would take it. God was listening! Of course, the first thing in my head was – you. I knew you would be in shock, then crying, then basking in the thrill. Housework will be there tomorrow. Enjoy, sweetheart!

And tomorrow is here, and the housework is here! Ah well, it was fun yesterday. Now back to reality. It was a great game, and I’m thrilled the Curse has finally lifted. Now about those Indians…………….. :-D
